Tropicália exhibition, Rupla Helsinki Gallery, 2018

The exhibition "Tropicália" emphasizes the fusion of traditional Brazilian culture with foreign influences. The name comes from a Brazilian artistic movement that arose in the late 1960s. It encompassed art forms such as theatre, poetry, and music. The artist through his paintings intends to bring vivid colors, racial influences, and the local vegetation from his native country.
The intention is to question the fusion of cultures in around the world. Globalization related to philosophy, religion, language, the arts, and other aspects of culture have spread and blended in the nations for centuries. It is hard to understand how there are people in the third millennium who still maintain a retrograde racial position. Mixtures of races are a worldwide reality and contribute to an enrichment of your own local culture.
The exhibition is inspired by the photo collection "Intervenções na Paisagem Nordestina" by Daniel Moraes and Thiago Borba.
