Nykyajan Utopia exhibition, Rupla Helsinki Gallery, 2017

The exhibition “Nykyajan Utopia” is a series of six paintings. This Utopia is a chapter that the artist is experiencing in your current life. The faces portray people immersed in a contemporary world full of information which dissolves very fast.
In his research on the theory of the “liquid world” that came from the mind of Polish sociologist Zygmunt Bauman’s brilliant mind. It mentions that, there was a time when concepts were solid. Ideas, ideologies, relationships, streams of thoughts returning to reality and interaction between people. From the 20th century with its technological achievements, political conflicts and wars, we have seen the apogee and decline of this world. The post modernity brought with it the fluidity of the liquid. Neglecting divisions and barriers, taking forms, occupying spaces, diluting certainties, beliefs and practices.
Although the artworks are paintings on canvas, Fabu added many techniques of collage to them. He can see the elements in different layers, and sets each part of the composition as floating in the liquid world.
